Work Racing Brings Back Livengood for 2011

January 26, 2011
Livengood and Walko will be back for 2011.

Pittsburgh, PA – 2010 American rookie standout Chris Livengood will compete in the 2011 F2000 Championship Series.  Livengood, who won at Mid-Ohio, will run under the Work Racing banner in the same #37 1999 Van Diemen. John Walko will oversee trackside support and engineering for the potential championship effort.

Livengood said: “Given the environment under the tent and the energy that surrounds the racing program, I am incredibly enthusiastic to have the opportunity to return. I’m excited to field my trusty Van Diemen. The car was fantastic last season and having spoken with Bruce [Work] and John [Walko] extensively over the winter we see no reason why the car won’t continue to see a logical evolution of improvement over this off-season and into the new season.”

Livengood plans to continue what he called his “march towards the front”. He started 2010 with standout results in the lone Pinto powered car in the field before moving to a Zetec and further up the gird by Mosport. A pole on IndyCar weekend at Watkins Glen followed and his first podium and another pole followed by a dominating victory in round 13 of the year at Mid-Ohio put an exclamation point on Livengood’s 2010 season.

“My motto for 2010 was to improve every weekend,” Livengood continued. “This goal will never change. However, for 2011, I feel I’m closer to where I need to be and have a better understanding of the competition in the paddock. As a result, I hope to challenge for podiums and wins immediately.”

The 2011 F2000 Championship Series opens its sixth consecutive season with a double-header weekend, like all the events, at VIR, April 8-10. The Series next heads to Road Atlanta with the highly-popular Formula Drift tour, May 6-7. Rounds five and six come at Watkins Glen, June 3-5, with Grand-Am. June 30-July 2 sees the Series visit Mid-Ohio before pairing up with ALMS at Mosport, July 22-24. The season starts to come to a close with the NASCAR Modifieds at Lime Rock Park, September 16-17 and finishes at Watkins Glen, October 14-16, with what is appearing to be a year full of massive car counts and a variety of new chassis, teams and drivers.
