Who Will Be “King of The Buckeyes”?
Sharon, CT - With an intense schedule of four races in a three week span for the F2000 Championship Series and F1600 Formula F Championship Series at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Series officials have announced an innovative award for the best Ohio race results, to be dubbed “King of The Buckeyes”.
“This atmosphere is something like what weekly short track racers face,” said Managing Director (and one-time sprint car racer) Michael Rand. “We thought the most successful drivers should get some special recognition”.
The “King of The Buckeyes” will also serve as an additional incentive, motivating drivers who due to bad luck earlier in the season may be out of the running for the Series Championship, as well as attracting local drivers who have extensive track experience at Mid-Ohio but may not run the entire F2000 or F1600 schedule.
(To be eligible for this award drivers must be registered participants in either the F2000 Championship Series or the F1600 Formula F Championship Series).
“King of the Buckeyes” will be determined by Series points over the four Mid-Ohio races (July 27 & 28, August 10 & 11). In case of a tie in points earned, the tie-breaker will be based on highest finishing position in the August 11 races.
In conjunction with the “King of the Buckeyes,” the Series is developing several Ohio-themed awards that will be presented on August 11.
