Watkins Glen Pole to La Rocca
Watkins Glen, NY – Continuing his utter qualifying dominance of the 2012 season, Robert La Rocca cruised to the race one (round 13) pole position at Watkins Glen International for HP-Tech Motorsport ahead of Wyatt Gooden and Zach Craigo, in his career best qualifying effort for Front Range Motorsports. Completing the top five were Summit Point winner Niki Coello and Kyle Connery in a pair of RFRs.
In his first laps of the season, following problems on Friday, Rob Nicholas was sixth quick for K-Fast with Chris Livengood, Cesar Lapoint, Tom Fatur and David Grant, the 2012 Atlantic Series Champion, following.
Logging times during the 25-minute all-green-flag session were a season best 37 cars.
La Rocca’s pole position made it 11on his Championship-winning year, in 13 tries, and his fast lap was more than six tenths clear of second place Gooden for Quantum Racing Services.
Kevin Kopp was 11th quick despite going off during the session, while Robert Wright was the first of the Radon’s in 12th. Tim Paul, Matthew Inge and Dean Baker completed the top 15.
