Two Minute Mark Broken by Starrantino in Qualifying
Alton, VA – Backing up two fast practice times on Friday, Adrian Starrantino shattered the VIR F1600 Formula F Championship Series qualifying track record en route to pole position for the opening round of the 2013 season. Starrantino, driving a Mygale/Honda for Bryan Herta Autosport, clocked in at 1:59.926, going under the two minute mark at VIRginia International Raceway.
Lining up alongside Starrantino’s Mygale will be the Cape Motorsports Spectrum of Jake Eidson, followed by another Mygale in WISKO’s Aaron Telitz, and then Joe Colasacco in a Van Diemen and Steve Bamford's Mygale/Honda.
Telitz commented he made a mistake on his fast lap and had more speed in the car.
Ayla Agren was sixth quick, ahead of Tim Kautz, Lewis Cooper, Jeremy Grenier and Sam Chastain.
Notably, Jim Goughary was nearly three tenths up on his VIR qualifying time from 2011, which but him fourth on the grid back then. Today? 14th.
