Black Watch Racing Group will run two cars.

Wayzata, MN – Black Watch Racing Group will contest the 2012 F1600 Formula F Championship Series season with a two car team made up of Dan Murphy and F1600 race winner Jim Goughary. The duo will race the team’s freshly rebuilt Van Diemen/Hondas for the full six-event, 12-race 2012 schedule.

The team recently completed a test in Florida and plans to go back to a SCCA Regional at Sebring in February, in addition to VIRginia International Raceway in March.

“Our goal for 2012 is to be the number one team in the F1600 Championship Series,” said Dan Murphy, driver and also the team owner. “I'm particularly looking forward to learning from Jim, and I’m excited to be associated with a driver of his caliber. The cars are in top condition and we are anxious to get started.”

Goughary, meanwhile, will be back to hunt for a Championship after finishing third in the final standings in 2011, winning the opening race in Series history by a few inches.

“I do not see any other professional racing in the country that offers racing this close at this cost,” said Goughary said.  “I felt like we had a shot at winning the series last year, but did not manage to get it done. Maybe this year we can pull that off.  And, from a driver’s standpoint these cars keep you very sharp, and that level of driving transfers into all types of racing.

“The future of Black Watch Racing starts right now and being there from the beginning is something special,” he added.

The 12-race, six-weekend 2012 season starts at VIRginia International Raceway, April 12-15.
