PALMETTO, FLA. (November 10, 2014) – Just a few weeks after completing a commanding one-two-three sweep in the F1600 Formula F Championship Series, Florida-based Team Pelfrey already has its sights set firmly on 2015.

Teenaged karting talents Rob Megennis, 14, from New York, N.Y., and Jordan Cane, 13, from Bognor Regis, England, have tested impressively in the familiar yellow-and-black Mygale-Hondas and are intent upon continuing Team Pelfrey’s run of success.

“The test went great,” said Manhattan-based Megennis, who won this year’s Northeast Junior Rotax Championship after finishing on the podium in each of the season’s 11 races. “I was able to pick up the H-pattern gearbox quickly and tested the limits of the car with a spin or two, but I quickly found a rhythm and set about working with the team. I love how the car handles; there is so much grip.  For 2015 I would like to win races and compete for the championship.”

Cane, a product of the British Junior Rotax karting ranks and former Cadet champion, will be obliged to skip the opening few races of the 2015 season before reaching his 14th birthday but has similarly high aspirations.

“The two tests with Team Pelfrey have gone far better than I could’ve possibly expected,” said Cane, who completed a Skip Barber Racing Three-Day Racing School at Road Atlanta and an Advanced Racing School at Lime Rock earlier this year. “We are already on the pace and now testing is set up for next year. The atmosphere in the team is great. I am so excited about next season and cannot wait to go racing. It’s a shame I’ll miss the first couple of rounds of the championship because of my age. I know it will not be easy in my first year but I hope to win races and I think we can do that.”

Team Pelfrey will resume its testing program in December and still has two more places available on its roster for the 2015 F1600 Championship Series campaign.

“Rob and Jordan have been nothing short of sensational in their recent tests with us and we are delighted and privileged to name them in our driver line-up,” said Jonny Baker, director of business development for Team Pelfrey. “Working with young, talented drivers coming out of the go-kart ranks is exactly why we got involved with F1600, and I think you will see drivers like Rob and Jordan, in addition to our 2014 drivers, making their mark on the Mazda Road to Indy in years to come with Team Pelfrey. We are looking forward to finalizing our driver line-up before the end of the year, and the goal will be to win the championship once again in 2015.”
