Swan Motorsports Enters F1600 and Atlantic Championships

Swan will run entries in Atlantic and F1600.

Fort Worth, TX. (March 19, 2014) - Swan Motorsports today announced its entry in the 2014 Atlantic Championship Series and the 2014 F1600 Formula F Championship Series.

  “I am very happy to enter the 2014 Atlantic Championship and F1600 Championship.” team owner, Mirl Swan said. “Our team has enjoyed a lot of success in Formula Atlantic, winning many championships and national titles over the years. We have our sights set firmly on winning the 2014 Atlantic title.”

Swan continued: “We believe the F1600 Series has proven itself as North America’s premier ladder series as young drivers progress from Karting to F1600, F2000 and Atlantic. We are very pleased to be part of the series”.
 
Swan Motorsports has entered a three car Atlantic team. Michael Mällinen, former SCCA National Champion and IMSA Pro Atlantic C2 Champion, will drive the  No. 71 Swift Engineering Mazda 016.a alongside Tyler Hunter in the No. 22 Swift Engineering TRD 014.a and Mark Felsen driving No. 2 Swift Engineering TRD 014.a.

They are always in contention, present well prepared cars, and I am sure, with three cars entered, they will add to the excitement of this year’s races.” said Chip Robinson, race director, Formula Race Promotions, operator of the Atlantic, F2000 and F1600 Series. “I believe their expansion into F1600 is a testament to the quality of our series, its ladder opportunities, and the quality of the drivers.”

Swan Motorsports entry in the US F1600 Formula F Championship Series is Max Mällinen. He will drive the black No. 10 Swan Motorsports Spectrum/Honda entry. Mällinen has been competing in international and national karting series and has won three Championships over the past two years.

Since 2006 Swan Motorsports has won eight Runoffs National Championships. Including six Formula Atlantic Championships with five different drivers, five SCCA Triple Crowns, three SCCA Super Sweeps, and multiple SCCA Division Titles.  In 2009 the team won the IMSA Pro Atlantic C2 Championship. Swan Motorsports owner, Mirl Swan has won several National Championships in Karting, Formula Atlantic and Indy Lights, as a driver and a crew chief. Swan Motorsports is based at Motorsports Ranch near Ft. Worth, Texas.
