Sundaramoorthy Targets 2018 Success

February 23, 2018

Salem, NH – K-Hill Motorsports driver Yuven Sundaramoorthy is looking forward to a successful sophomore season in the 2018 F1600 Championship Series season and building upon the two wins he scored in 2017.

Those wins came in down-to-the wire finishes, by inches at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and then a few months later, by .014 seconds at New Jersey Motorsports Park.

“I like the close racing,” said the 15-year-old. ”Each lap there are constant back and forth passes that makes it really exciting and really difficult.”

Of note, Sundaramoorthy is the first official entry filed for the 2018 season, with series organizer Formula Race Promotions opening registration earlier this month.

Sundaramoorthy said his major goal for 2018 is to win the F1600 Championship, but he also wants to stay in the lead battle – the front pack of cars – in all 21 races over seven weekends.

While the season starts with a two-day, three-race event at Road Atlanta, April 21-22, Sundaramoorthy said he is most looking forward to a visit to Summit Point in August.

“That was a really fun track last year,” he explained. “It is a short track so it's very repetitive and easy to fix mistakes leading to more strategy-based racing.

“The list of takeaways from last year is endless. I learned so much from it being my first year in any form of cars including draft racing and all the strategy involved,” Sundaramoorthy continued. “My biggest challenge, especially last year was my age and experience. Being the youngest one in the field I really had to work hard to attempt and win races. This year however I should have about a year more F1600 experience then other drivers, so my goal is to use that to my advantage.”

In the middle of his sophomore year of high school, when not racing or studying Sundaramoorthy snowboards and takes part in the FIRST Robotics Competition.
