Skylar Robinson to Race in 2014 F2000 Series
Augusta, GA – Seventeen-year-old Skylar Robinson is set to race in the 2014 14-round F2000 Championship Series for Eric Langbein Racing with a Citation chassis. Robinson was most recently the 2013 BRSCC Formula Ford National Vice Champion with four wins in England and a Team USA Scholarship Finalist. In addition, he is the 2013 BRSCC Formula Ford Triple Crown Champion and has a host of Skip Barber Race Series wins.
Robinson will run alongside 2013 F2000 Champion Tim Minor for the 2014 season, which kicks off at Road Atlanta in April.
"My goal is to learn each and every race,” Robinson said. “I think if I apply what I learn from each race, we will be in a position at the end of the year to contest for the championship."
After success in Formula F-style race cars, the aspiring racer will have to get used to slick tires and aerodynamics.
"One of the biggest challenges without a doubt will be getting used to the downforce and slicks. I have been racing cars a year now and the experience I have gained during that period has been in cars without downforce and slicks,” continued Robinson.
“It will be a big transition, but I am looking forward to it. Also, the competition should be pretty intense. The F2000 Championship Series offers a good grid of experienced drivers in addition to some younger guys, so it should make a great atmosphere for learning.”
Also on his resume list is the fact that he was in the 2013 FIA Young Drivers’ Excellence Academy. As the season starts this spring, Robinson will continue to be a senior in high school.
With his impressive resume in Formula F cars, Robinson is looking forward to transitioning up the next step of the racing ladder and also working with Championship-winning Citation engineer Langbein.
"I am super excited to be working with Eric,” Robinson added. “He obviously knows what he's doing. With his knowledge and experience, I think we will be able to have a strong year."
