Sixth Pole of 2012 for La Rocca
Millville, NJ – Robert La Rocca made it look easy, taking his sixth pole in seven attempts this year, out classing the F2000 field by more than a second around the 13-turn Thunderbolt complex. La Rocca, driving the HP-Tech Van Diemen easily out qualified Niki Coello, in a RFR, Kevin Kopp, in the WISKO F2000 Van Diemen, with Tim Minor following in fourth in a Citation chassis for Ski Motorsports.
La Rocca is the Championship points leader and may have the field covered coming to the green flag, scheduled for 11:50 a.m. local time.
Pushing the schedule back one hour was a massive Friday night storm that ripped through the paddock, eating its way through most awnings. Combined with a similar storm Thursday night, many teams are left without shade as temperatures are expected to peak in the high 90s later today.
The area is still without power, and generators have been fired up to run gas pumps, Series timing and scoring and more, with estimates of no electricity through Tuesday for the region as the storm left a reported 2 million people without power, according various reports.
Wyatt Gooden rounded out the top five for Quantum Racing Services, with Zach Craigo, Colin Daley - in his first start, Tim Paul, Nick Palacio and Chris Livengood completing the top ten.
