Sam Beasley: Most Recent New Race Winner

 You’re racing in F2000 this year, how did you get here? What has your career path been like? 

My career started from racing karts which led to multiple WKA championships and representing Team USA at the Rotax World Finals 4 consecutive times. Soon after that I raced a partial season in the F1600 series. I had a lot of great seasons working with some of the best in the kart industry which led me to where I am today. Fortunately I was able to have someone come along and sponsor me for this years F2000 campaign. I’d like to use this year as a stepping stone to carry me into next year where I hope to run a full season in the Atlantic Championship Series.

Can you describe your development as a driver this season in F2000 that has led to you being a race winner and now permanent fixture at the front of the field?

I think adapting to the race car has been one of the main challenges this season. The car and the team have been really solid since VIR and I think its mainly just about getting all of the combinations right on any given race weekend.

Apart from Pittsburgh, what has been the highlight of the year?

Setting quickest race lap at VIR and having those two podium finishes in the same race weekend.

What have been some of the issues and challenges and how have you overcome them?

I’d have to say the biggest challenge has been learning some of the tracks that are new to me like Road Atlanta and Watkins Glen. Apart from that, Polestar has given me a fantastic car at each race track which makes my job easier. Jim and Pam are great to work with and it always helps to have Steve for race strategy and analyzing data.

What do you do between races?

I work full time (when not at the track) for Cometic Gasket in their sales and R&D departments.

Any hobbies besides race cars?

Playing classical piano, staying fit, keeping a balanced social life with friends and family.

Can you give some examples of working with Polestar this year and how they’ve been part of your success as a driver?

Working with them as been great this year. The whole team brings a lot of experience and knowledge to the table which has played a major role in making my learning curve short. I think every good driver has a great team behind them and I certainly have that this year.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I’d like to see myself as a driver in Indy Car or maybe even in a Sports Car series. I’ve always enjoyed racing overseas so hopefully that can happen as well for my motorsports career.
