Salem, NH - Add another fast driver and team combination to the front of the 2017 F2000 Championship Series field as Rob Allaer and LTD Motorsports confirmed today they would run a full season assault on the seven-weekend USAC-sanctioned Formula Race Promotions Series.

"Every single year in F2000 the field is strong top to bottom," said Allaer, who won the 2014 National Championship Runoffs. "We know there will be weekends when things will go very well, and there will be weekends when things won’t, but the key is to stay level-headed and stay focused on what we want to accomplish."

With less than two months until the season opener with Pirelli World Challenge at VIR, April 28-30, the F2000 field is becoming stronger by the day.

Prior to his 2017 announcement, Allaer has dipped in and out of F2000 competition, running a handful of weekends over the years, and always near the front of the field in the black Martini, Coors Light and Domaine Chandon No. 52 Van Diemen. Most recently, Allaer ran at Mid-Ohio in 2016 and in 2015, broke through with a third place finish at Mid-Ohio.

"In the few races I have had in F2000, we’ve had some bad luck that has taken us out of chances to win races, despite being able to lead laps and run in the top five multiple times," Allaer continued. "A lot of that has to do with our learning how to drive on the series Hoosier tires, which are very different than the club tires we usually run."

Allaer said he was attracted to the F2000 formula because the offering is a pure race car.

"The adjustments you are able to make to the aerodynamics as well as the mechanics of the car constantly challenge the team and driver to find the optimum setup," he said. "I think winning in a F2000 car truly takes a team effort. That is why having a terrific team like LTD Motorsports is an advantage for me for sure.

"The F2000 series is fantastic because even though the competition is very tight, the people around the paddock are the most professional and friendly you will ever meet in motorsports. Obviously the on-track experience is wonderful and the drivers are terrific."

Allaer joins his brother-in-law and father-in-law in the Formula Race Promotions paddock, who both run programs with Polestar Racing Group; as Lew Cooper Jr. contests the Atlantic Championship Series and Lewis Cooper III is a regular in F1600 competition.
