Gainesville, GA - The off-season has been an extremely busy one for the Gainesville, Georgia based Raceworks team. The team is switching to a pair of new Honda-powered Spectrums this year in F1600, along with a newly announced F2000 program.

Heading up the team’s attack on the 2014 F1600 Championship is Franklin Futrelle. The 28-year old has raced in a variety of series, including Formula Enterprises, Spec Racer Ford, and Formula Mazda. Franklin brings championship-winning experience: he was the 2008 SCCA National Champion in Formula Mazda.

Raceworks is also branching out into the F2000 series, and will be fielding a Zetec-powered Van Diemen with veteran racer Beau Borders at the wheel. Beau has a wide range of racing experience including the Skip Barber series, the Continental Tires Championship, and numerous races in Formula Mazda.

The team has been competing in the F1600 series since its inception, winning the inaugural race and finishing 3rd in the 2011 season championship standings. In its 20-year history the team has seen success in a variety of series ranging from NASCAR short-track racing to professional endurance racing.

The team has won several championships in its Formula Mazda race cars, including the SARRC championship in 2005, back-to-back national Championships in 2006 & 2007, the NEDIV championship in 2009 and the East Coast Formula Car Challenge in 2010. Raceworks is set to begin testing its F1600 cars soon, and plans to run a full slate of club races in addition to its F1600 & F2000 programs.
