Rabe Joins K-Hill for Road Atlanta
Monticello, NY – Professional racing driver Jason Rabe today announced his entry for the Road Atlanta F2000 Championship Series weekend. Rabe, an aspiring American racer and professional driver coach, will be in the No. 14 Macquarie Group/Monticello Motor Club Van Diemen for K-Hill Motorsports.
“I'm really excited to get back behind the wheel of an F2000 Championship car again, the Series is a super competitive formula car stage,” Rabe noted. “I’m looking forward to driving Road Atlanta for the first time.
"I'm hoping a solid performance at Road Atlanta will result in more sponsorship and funding to complete the full season,” continued Rabe. “I need to contend for a Championship"
Rabe is perhaps one of the most feel-good and unique stories in pro racing to date – he started his professional career late, and with little, if any money – working corners at New Jersey Motorsports Park and sleeping in his car.
“I packed my car with everything I had and drove to New Jersey Motorsports Park, and filled out a flagger application,” he said, noting the track had just been built. “They called me a week later and hired me as a flagger for two days a week. I knew nobody in Millville and slept in my car for a month and a half.”
Today, Jason is a professional instructor at Monticello Motor Club and owner of Driving Details LLC, an auto detailing shop.
His one F2000 event came in 2012, at New Jersey, for WISKO Racing, where he finished seventh in his F2000 debut. Since then he has raced various SCCA events, including competing in Formula Atlantic, Formula Mazda and Spec Racer Ford Classes. In addition he earned a spot on Ford's Octane Academy TV show representing Ken Block. Last year he made his Pro Mazda debut at the Shell/Pennzoil Houston Grand Prix.
Rabe is no stranger to K-Hill either, knowing the team for a number of years and running an Atlantic car for them.
"I've known Kris Kaiser for a while now, we first met during my time at NJMP,” Rabe said. “He understands and respects my story, that's why he's given me great opportunities to drive his Atlantic and Indy Lights cars in the past, and now it’s time to go pro racing with the team.”
Added Kris Kaiser, team owner: “I remember when Jason said 'I'm going to race your cars someday' when he was working on pit lane at NJMP. I didn't believe him for a second, but his persistence has paid off.”
Rabe will be in the same chassis that took Cole Morgan to multiple race wins and a runner-up Championship spot in 2010.
