Preparing Your Zetec F2000 for the 2009 Season
The opening rounds are about six weeks away. With SCCA’s adoption of some rule changes affecting the Zetec and Pinto engines, the Series has also adopted those changes.
The past (’08) Zetec map is now history. The newly adopted map is available for downloading. Also the inlet restrictor size has changed. The old 1.295” restrictor plate has been replaced with the new larger 1.340” restrictor plate. If you need one of these new restrictor plates contact Bob Wright at F200090@aol.com.
If your car does not have a current SCCA annual inspection, not to worry. I will be able to do your annual at VIR or any other time during the season. This is a good time to check the dates on your belts.
It is customary for us to load the new map into every Zetec before qualifying at VIR. For good customer service, we will come to your car in the paddock, you don’t have to bring it to us. We’ll also check for engine seals, restrictor compliance, etc. at that time.
While we don’t require competitors to use a predetermined number plate for displaying car numbers, we do ask that you have numbers that can be easily read while the car is at speed. Numbers need to be on the nose and both rear wing endplates. If you are struggling with this, give ZATGraphics a shout at ZATGraphics.com.
If your car is called to impound please note that only the driver and two designated crew will be allowed into impound. We request that the download cable for your ECU be readily accessible. We will not hunt for it. We expect the driver, or a crewmember to be able to easily provide access to the cable. If called to impound, expect that you will need some basic tools. In the last few years I have noticed that some teams have created a special tool case just for impound. It contains the tools needed to remove body panels, air boxes, etc. While not mandatory, it does speed the inspection process, which in turn gets the car out of impound faster.
Remember to have a working AMB transponder. The Series has none to rent or sell. Don’t wait until you get to VIR.

Remember, it is the competitor’s responsibility to present a legal car for competition.
