Orsolon in a GTP Radon for VIR
Candia, NH – Brazilian Fabio Orsolon will drive the No. 77 Fiber Dynamics/GTP Radon chassis for GTP Motorsports at the F2000 Championship Series opener at VIR, April 12-15. Orsolon brings two full years of F2000 starts to the table, having driven for Alegra Motorsports in 2009 and 2010, with a couple one-off efforts in 2011.
While the initial deal is just for VIR, Road Atlanta and Lime Rock, Orsolon hopes to finalize a full-season deal with GTP to contest the entire seven-weekend, 14-race 2012 season.
Winner of the 2006 Brazilian Formula Ford Championship and numerous karting titles, the Miami native scored a handful of podiums during his F2000 rookie campaign in 2009 and moved up the grid in 2010, becoming a fixture on the podium. Orsolon is scheduled to drive his Radon for the first time at a two-day test in early April.
“The goal is to develop the car as quickly as possible and put it on the podium,” said the Brazilian. “While I have not driven it yet, I am really looking forward to it, it is such a new car it should be a nice challenge.”
Orsolon will be joined by three other Radon entries, as well as three Van Diemens, under the GTP Motorsports tent.
Team Owner Glenn Phillips commented: “Fabio is a talented driver and a good racer and I look forward to working with him. We appreciate the Teeters making their car available while Blake (Teeter) recovers from a karting injury.”
Dr. Nathan Ulrich, technical director, Radon Sport, added: “I look forward to Fabio's feedback as we continue to improve the car. His experience in the series and with many different race cars will be invaluable.”
