Lexington, OH – Tim Minor took the lead on the opening lap and managed a blistering race pace to take his seventh win of the 2013 F2000 Championship and edge closer to clinching the title as just four races remain. Minor led every lap to victory in his No. 88 Ski Motorsports Citation over the No. 10 of Santino Ferrucci in the HP-Tech Van Diemen, who started from pole. Kyle Connery was third in round 10 of the season at Mid-Ohio

Minor dominated in an impressive run at the road course, capitalizing on his second place back-to-front finish on Saturday. The No. 88’s race pace nearly broke the track record as Minor lapped consistently in the 1:24 range.

“There was no time to waste,” said Minor. “It’s such a tough field and you look at the grid sheet and there’s less than half a second between the top seven cars. You either go or you don’t and I’m pretty good on starts so I took off. I need to thank my team and Hoosier, they brought a great tire here as always. And the Series, I just couldn’t ask for more.”

Ferrucci lost the lead at the start to Minor, but was able to manage his own pace in the No. 10 to come home in second, driving most of the race by himself, to better his third and fourth place finishes in his debut at Watkins Glen last month.

“It was a great race, the car handled well the opening laps,” said the 15-year-old. “As we went on the tires went off of course and Tim did a great job to get in front of me on the start and we kept a gap as the race developed.”

Connery would land on the podium for the second day in a row, but failed to repeat his wet-weather performance that saw a victory on Saturday.

“I ended up making a mistake there at the end that lost some ground on Santino,” said Connery. “I had great battles with Jim Libecco and Fabio (Orsolon) during the race. Third place isn’t terrible, we’ve got to think about the Championship.”

Connery is solidly in second in the points, distancing himself from David Grant, who finished 28th after a season of consistent top tens. Connery will need a small miracle in the next four races to eat into Minor’s three-digit point lead.

Libecco put in his best performance in F2000 to finish fourth ahead of Joey Selmants in his season debut, in the No. 28 John Walko Racing Van Diemen.

Orsolon followed in sixth after running as high as third in the Radon chassis, while Roberto Lorena, Chris Livengood, Zach Cragio and Steve Bamford completed the top ten as 29 cars took the green flag under cloudy skies at Mid-Ohio.

The F2000 season continues in just two weeks, at Mid-Ohio again, for rounds 11 and 12, August 9-11.
