Miller Steals Pole for Race Two by Four-Thousandths from Audette

July 19, 2009
Chris Miller took pole with another track record.

Summit Point, WV – Chris Miller and JDC MotorSports took pole from this afternoon’s F2000 race at Summit Point with a record-setting lap of 1:11.103, stealing the pole away from Remy Audette, who clocked in at a 1:11.107, just four-thousandths of a second slower, showcasing the level of competition in the F2000 paddock. It is Miller’s second pole of the weekend and he adds another three points to his championship lead over Matthew Inge, who will line up third for St. Clair Motorsports.

“We made some changes overnight and they definitely helped a lot,” Miller said. “Again, just like yesterday it was hard to find a clear lap but I am super happy with the car JDC has given me.”

Audette will start on the outside of the front row.

Audette had pole for most of the session as his Audette Racing team was able to find him a huge gap in traffic to allow him to get multiple laps of clear running. “The car was running great, especially at the start of the session and the gap the team found me was very important,” commented Audette, who held on to finish fourth yesterday with a broken differential in the #21 Van Diemen. “We made a small change on the car halfway through the session but it didn’t end up helping, it’s nice to be on the front row again.”

Yesterday’s winner Matthew Inge will start third. Inge said “It was a decent session, we seem to have a better race pace than qualifying pace and yesterday I started third too. I ended up spinning the car in turn one and was worried they would throw the black to come get me, and I would lose my two fastest laps. Somehow I managed to get the thing out of the gravel.”

2008 Masters Class champion and Summit Point expert Tim Minor will line up fourth followed by Fabio Orsolon in fifth. Keith McCrone, Benjamin Searcy, Jonathan Scarallo, Rob Nicholas, and current Masters Class points leader Tom Fatur round out the top ten.

Today’s race get’s going at approximately 2:30pm (eastern time). Follow live updates on F2000ChampionshipSeries.com
