McAleer Back in No. 77 Radon

Stevan McAleer finished second at Lime Rock in 2010

Mahopac, NY - Scottish driver Stevan McAleer will be back in an F2000 car at Lime Rock Park for the first time since 2010, when he finished on the podium multiple times. After Fabio Orolson was unable to make Lime Rock due to a conflict in his racing schedule, McAleer was tapped to take over the No. 77 Radon and again team up with the No. 06 SMR car of Tim Paul.

Paul and McAleer first met when both worked at Grand Prix New York, a karting facility, after McAleer  moved from his native Scotland to pursue a career in racing.

They became teammates soon after during the 2010 season when McAleer ran several races for the Race House team garnering a several podiums in a limited schedule while  also coaching Paul in his first year of road racing.

McAleer has many years of experience in various series including a number of Scottish karting championships, a Skip Barber National Scholarship ride and is currently in second place in the Mazda MX5 Playboy Cup with a win at Sebring and a second at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca so far in 2012. He is also a full time Pro instructor at Monticello Motor Club.

SMR, GTP and Radon have co-partnered with SMR sponsor CellMark Paper in an unusual arrangement to get McAleer back behind the wheel to continue the development of the new Radon Chassis.

With Paul sitting fourth in points in a Van Diemen it will be an interesting weekend for the teammates in two different chassis. With Paul scoring a podium at Lime Rock in 2011 and McAleer a podium in 2010 there will be some real competition between the two to keep the string going in 2012.
