Max Esterson Confirmed as Championship Contender for Team Pelfrey in 2020

March 18, 2020

St. Petersburg, Florida- Team Pelfrey is delighted to confirm that Max Esterson will be joining team for the 2020 season. Esterson will participate in the Formula Race Promotions F1600 Series as well as F1600 Canada events in Quebec.

”I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining Team Pelfrey for the entire 2020 season,” Esterson said. “From the minute I started working with the team at my first test in November, the SCCA Majors race we just had in Sebring, and through to our continuing prep for our next race, Geoff Bushor and the team have created a great environment for a young driver to become a good racer. I still have a lot to learn, so I try to take in all the things we do out of the car like reviewing the data and video, as well as training together on iRacing. I’m hopeful all the preparation, practice, and hard work will lead to good results for us throughout the season. I’m grateful to the team, my family, and all my supporters – although we’re still working to find additional backing, I wanted to call out executive search firm Amity Search Partners, Guardian Alarm in Detroit, Vanwall Holdings, Max Papis Innovations (MPI), and Bell Helmets for all their help in making this opportunity possible.”

Max Esterson started his racing career online on the iRacing platform around age 11 and moved up the ranks and eventually made his way into the Top 50 list of iRacers around the world and into the Top 5 in the US. Along with competing on iRacing, he also offers a coaching service on the simulator, which has been helpful in giving him some base knowledge of data and how to use it to improve driving technique as well as car setup.  His coaching includes having worked with some veteran IndyCar and IMSA drivers in helping them improve their iRacing skills.

2019 was Max’s first full season in karting, which consisted of him doing 10 races with McAleer Racing in upstate New York at Oakland Valley Race Park in the X30 Senior class. He learned a lot throughout the year and managed to run with the leaders by mid-season. Along with the karting, Max got his first taste of cars at the Bertil Roos Racing School at Palm Beach Int’l Raceway earlier this year.

He was born and raised in New York City and is currently a junior at Regis High School. When Max isn’t on the track, on the sim or doing schoolwork, he enjoys watching hockey as well as any racing that’s on TV.   Follow Max on Instagram @maxesterson or at www.maxesterson.com

“I am looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish this year,” Geoff Bushor, Team Principal added. “We have had an extremely encouraging off season, and Max and his family will be an excellent addition to our program.”
