Lastochkin to Pole
Watkins Glen, NY – Nikita Lastochkin took pole with a new track record for race one of the F1600 Formula F Championship Series weekend at Watkins Glen, with a stunning lap time of1:56.791. Championship leader Ayla Agren missed pole by .008 seconds and will start second ahead of Chastain Motorsports’ teammates Sam Chastain and Evan Mehan. The top nine cars were under the track record.
Jim Goughary was fifth, while Augie Lerch was sixth and Championship contender Garth Rickards could only muster the pace for seventh.
Come the race, Rickards will need to get to the front of the field and keep Agren behind him if he intends to make ground back in the title-fight. Only two races remain, both taking place this weekend at Watkins Glen.
