Kotyk Wins in Season Finale F1600 Race

October 9, 2017

Millville, NJ - Team USA Scholarship winner Jonathan Kotyk took the final win of the 2017 F1600 Championship Series in round 20 of the season. It was the third and final race of the F1600 weekend from New Jersey Motorsports Park, and like the previous two, featured all green flag laps as Kotyk won a close race by one tenth of a second ahead of teammate and 2017 Series Champion Matthew Cowley. Zach Holden finished third for K-Hill Motorsports.

"It was a really good result for Team Pelfrey and Gap Guard. I learned from the past two races earlier in the weekend," said Kotyk. "We missed out a little bit and got it done in the last race here this weekend."

Next, Kotyk heads to the airport to fly to England for the Team USA Scholarship program, which sees him compete in multiple prestigious F1600 races.

Cowley noted: "It feels great to be the Champion of this Series. Thanks to Team Pelfrey for a great car all season."

Added Holden, who finished third: "It was a very good season, and thank you to everyone at K-Hill Motorsports. It was a good season overall, the last race was a good one with the Pelfrey cars."

Yuven Sundaramoorthy, Sunday's race two winner, was fourth at the finish line, while Simon Sikes followed for Rice Race Prep.

Another nail-biting race in the Masters Class saw Mike Scanlan win by a narrow margin over Dave Petzko and John Dole.
