Keyvan Andres Sweeps VIR Practice

Alton, VA – Top times for Atlantic Championship Series practice at VIR consisted of Keyvan Andres with the fast time of 1:44.086 that he put down during practice session two. In second for the day was Keith Grant with a time of 1:44.600 and in third was Garth Rickards who had a time of 1:44.811.

 K-Hill driver Andres is already up to par with is performance at Watkins Glen at the start of the VIR weekend. Andres was able to take home two first place finishes in rounds three and four during his 2015 season debut at Watkins Glen in his Swift 016/Mazda. 

Grant was able to move up after practice one where he had the third fastest time and score second place for the day in practice two. Grant has had three podiums so far this season for Polestar, one of which being a first place finish in round one at Road Atlanta. 

F1600 Championship graduate Rickards is also coming off his season debut at Watkins Glen. The No. 83 K-Hill driver from Mechanicsburg, PA was able to walk away with third place finishes in both round three and four at Watkins Glen. 

Going into race one on Saturday Grant leads the standings by twenty six points with Conner Kearby in second followed by Gaston Kearby in third. 

Practice 1

During a gloomy morning at VIR, practice one allowed Andres to get the fast lap of 1:48.009. In second for practice one was G. Kearby with a time of 1:48.575 and in third was Grant with a time of 1:48.778. 

In fourth place for practice one was C. Kearby who took the podium earlier in the season taking first place in race two round two at Road Atlanta. Behind C. Kearby was Rickards with the fifth fastest time for the first session.

Despite the overcast weather only a light mist came down on the drivers as they took to the track.  K-Hill driver Bruce Hamilton unfortunately had an incident early in the session and was unable to finish practice one. Shortly after, Connor Burke blew an engine and was also unable to finish. 

Practice 2 

Practice two for the day finished with Andres on top again, having a lap time of 1:44.086, knocking nearly four seconds off his time from session one. Behind Andres for practice two was Grant with a time of 1:44.600. Claiming the third spot was Rickards who had a time of 1:44.811.

K-Hill Motorsports No. 56 driver C. Kearby ended up in fourth for the session with his father and teammate G. Kearby behind him in fifth. 

Rich Zober finished had the sixth fastest time in practice two with Chris Ash following him in seventh.

G. Kearby led the Atlantic Challenge division for practice two but a few positions behind him included a very tight group of Challenge competitors starting with Bruce Crockett in eighth, followed by Swift 014/Toyota drivers Bob Corliss and John Burke in ninth and tenth.

The Atlantic Championship Series will continue with morning qualifying and an afternoon race on Saturday followed by another race on Sunday.
