Keith McCrone Paces Practice 1
Elkhart Lake, WI – R-Sport put two cars in the top three as Keith McCrone paced the first F2000 practice session of the weekend ahead of Daniel Erickson and R-Sport teammate Jonathan Scarallo at Road America. Notably, both R-Sport cars are running a very stock Van Diemen aero package on the 14-corner road course that features some very long straights. Rounding out the top five were Alegra Motorsports teammates Victor Carbone, who is leading the points and Fabio Orsolon.
McCrone, a Masters Class driver, is coming off an eventful weekend at Lime Rock Park. In qualifying one, McCrone put his R-Sport Van Diemen on the provisional pole and just a few feet later, suffered a huge crash in turn one. He recovered to finish fourth in race one and then came from the back of the pack to log a 13th place effort in race two, earning the CellMark Paper Hard Charger Award.
Next, in positions six and seven, came the pair of JDC cars, with Mikhail Goikhberg just edging Gerry Kraut. Stevan McAleer was eighth quick for the Race House squad with Phil Lombardi and Chris Gumprech following in ninth and tenth.
