Keith Grant Wins on Sunday at VIR

June 3, 2018

Alton, VA – Keith Grant broke Baltazar Leguizamon’s win streak in the 2018 Atlantic Championship Series season. Starting from pole, Grant led every lap at VIR for Polestar to take his first victory of the season in the No. 40. Leguizamon finished second for K-Hill Motorsports despite being involved in a turn-one, lap-one incident with David Grant, who ended up with the final podium spot.

Keith Grant led all 19 laps, also managing a restart in the closing stages of the race with Leguizamon's No. 9 following closely.

Lee Alexander looked set for another third place result, but failed to make it two podiums in two days for Comprent. Blake Mount also failed to finish despite running as high as fourth in the late stages as Mount and Alexander came together in the closing stages of the race.

The two DNFs helped promote David Grant to a podium spot, despite the turn-one incident sending him from second place to last in the early going. The No. 29 drove back to fifth before a full-course caution packed the field for a restart.

With the Grant brothers in first and third for Polestar, and Leguizamon in second for K-Hill, it was Kirk Kindsfater that won the Masters Class with a fourth place run for K-Hill.

The Atlantic Championship Series enjoys a few weeks off before teams and drivers next head to the midpoint of the 2018 season, scheduled at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, June 29 – July 1.
