JDC Motorsports - F2000 Watkins Glen Preview
The premier event of the F2000 Championship Series takes place this weekend (July 4-5), with Rounds Seven and Eight being run at Watkins Glen International Raceway in conjunction with the IndyCar Series. For JDC MotorSports, the doubleheader marks the opportunity to further establish itself as one of the, if not the, leading teams in the highly competitive series. American Chris Miller is already a two-time winner this season and one of the front-runners in the championship fight, while Mexican Alejandro Munoz is steadily improving every time he gets behind the wheel.
When the 35+ field of F2000 cars rolls on to the historic Watkins Glen International road course, one of the drivers many of those on-hand will be focusing on is Miller. The second year race pilot from Edina, MN., is not only one of the most consistent drivers, finishing among the top-10 in 18 of 20 career starts, but also among the quickest, winning twice and finishing on the podium in all five of the past five races. As a result, the No. 85 Miller Milling/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports Van Diemen RF06/Zetec driver is currently leads the championship fight by 11 points when factoring in the mandatory two drops. Given Watkins Glen is Miller’s favorite track on the F2000 Championship Series schedule, and the talented young driver finished on the podium in his inaugural visit last season, the possibility of his points advantage expanding following Rounds Seven and Eight is not out of the question.
A newcomer to F2000 racing, the goal from day one for Munoz has been to finish races and steadily build speed. While the No. 96 Black Lion Racing/Redline Oil/JDC MotorSports Van Diemen RF01/Zetec race pilot has yet to achieve the results he’s desired, the young Mexican driver has continually progressed behind the wheel. The high-speed Watkins Glen road course will again provide Munoz the opportunity to learn his trade on one of the premier race tracks in North America.

The on-track action at Watkins Glen International will commence for the JDC MotorSports duo on Thursday (July 2), with a late afternoon practice session. One day later, an additional practice session will be conducted prior to morning qualifying, which will set the grid for race one of the doubleheader. Round Seven is scheduled to get underway at 2:45 p.m. local time that afternoon. The lone session on Saturday (July 4) will feature the second qualifying run. Race two, Round Eight, will take place on Sunday morning (July 5) at 10:30 a.m., just prior to the IndyCar Series race.
