Braselton, GA – Jake Eidson backed up two second place finishes last month and laps led on Friday at Road Atlanta with a dominating win to close out the F1600 Formula F Championship Series weekend. Eidson became the first driver to win a race in 2013 by more than four tenths of a second, as he was able to break the draft and pull out a gap in his No. 10 Spectrum/Honda, winning over Friday’s victor Aaron Telitz and Steve Bamford in a pair of Mygales.

The Cape Motorsports car of Eidson was fast during Thursday practice and was in contention for the win on Friday before contact with Championship leader Adrian Starrantino, who failed to finish this race, Tweeting that he had been hit by another car.

“The start went well and I was able to get through turn one cleanly,” said Eidson, marking his first win on the season after leading laps on Friday and leading on the last lap of both races at VIRginia International Raceway in April. “Adrian and Aaron got by but then I was able to work my way past and tried to stay consistent with my lap times.

“Yesterday didn’t go as planned,” continued Eidson, adding that he was ahead of the Starrantino incident. “But today couldn’t have been better with fast lap, the pole and the win.”

Eidson was able to pull away to win race four of the season once the draft was broken, thanks in part to a number of cars battling in the early stages of the 16-lap race for second position. The victory marked the first of the year for the Spectrum chassis and defending 2012 Championship team Cape Motorsports.

Following up on his break-through victory on Saturday, Telitz came home second for the WISKO F1600 team in his Mygale/Honda package.

“The last lap was a bit chaotic,” said the driver of the No. 13. “Steve was pushing me everywhere he could and it was a great weekend here with two podiums and a terrific car from WISKO.”

Bamford matched his best result of the year with another Masters Class victory and third place finish, completing the podium in the Rice Race Prep Mygale/Honda.

“I went for it on the last lap and just didn’t make the corner,” added Bamford, who fought Telitz for the better part of the 16-lap contest.

Joe Colasacco came home fourth in his best result of the season while Ayla Agren was fifth in the first of the Bryan Herta Autosport entries. The battle for fourth was hard fought the entire race, with five cars contesting the position.

Slade Miller was next in line, sixth in a solid run for Quantum, with Paul Alspach for WISKO, Scott Rubenzer, Art Foster and Jim Goughary closely following to complete the top ten.

Sam Chastain missed the race following a heavy qualifying crash in morning qualifying in his Bryan Herta Autosport entry. The young racer was fine but his No. 97 Mygale/Honda was damaged beyond repair for the short turn-around between sessions at Road Atlanta.

The 12-race 2013 F1600 Formula F Championship Series season continues with rounds five and six, at Lime Rock Park, May 24-25.
