Inge Set to Return with St. Clair Motorsports
The depth of the 2009 F2000 Championship Series has increased, with the announcement that Matthew Inge will return for a second season with former champions St. Clair Motorsports.
Inge, having impressed many with his speed and skill in his inaugural season of Formula Ford 2000 competition, will again join forces with St. Clair Motorsports in 2009. Although currently only scheduled to run two race weekends due to funding and a summer internship commitments at a mine in Pennsylvania, the talented young driver is hopefully he will be able to get the proper funding and time off to run the full 12-race calendar. As part of a multi-car effort at St. Clair Motorsports, Inge will partner two to three yet to be confirmed teammates throughout the season.
A native of Fort Myers, Fla., Inge rejoins St. Clair Motorsports in the F2000 Championship Series, having achieved good deal of success behind the wheel over the past few year. Following a championship-winning career in the karting ranks, Inge began competing in SCCA Club Racing via the Spec Racer Ford and Formula Enterprise classes. Making the transition to cars with relative ease, the Florida driver regularly began challenging for race wins. In 2007, Inge became one the leading Formula E drivers in the nation, capturing six FormulaCar Magazine FE Championship Series wins and the 2007 SCCA Southeast Division title. Last year, the Virginia Tech Mining and Minerals Engineering student made the switch to pro Formula Ford 2000, and promptly challenged for top honors, eventually finishing seventh in the title chase via one podium finish, five top-fives and seven top-10s, despite missing the final four races.
Based in Livonia, Mich., St. Clair Motorsports has established itself as one of the the premier Formula Ford 2000 teams in North America. Under the guidance of Team Owner Rob St. Clair, the team has competed in both the amateur and pro ranks for the past several years, winning multiple races in the highly competitive class. Enjoying their most successful season to date in 2007, St. Clair Motorsports won six of 12 races in the F2000 Championship Series en route to capturing the series title.
Inge and the St. Clair Motorsports team are currently preparing for the 2009 F2000 Championship Series season-opener, which will take place on April 10-11, at Virginia International Raceway.
