Indy Motorsports Group Adds Second Car
2019 will be a year of growth for Indy Motorsports Group (IMG) as the Indianapolis, Indiana based outfit has announced that they will run a multi-car program in the 2019 F2000 Championship Series. Confirming the purchase of a second Van Diemen with Mazda power, Indy Motorsports Group now sets their sites on filling the vacant seat for the upcoming 2019 season.
"We are very excited to add another car to our program," explained Dean Durrett, partner of Indy Motorsports Group. "I feel that our program is ready for the growth as we have a season under our belt and gained a lot of experience along the way."
Steve Newey, 2011 Indianapolis 500 winning car owner and partner in Indy Motorsports Group, is also excited about the upcoming season. "Adding a second car is a lot of work but the increased data and opportunity to test will yield better on track results. With the turn of the calendar just around the corner, we can't wait to start our test program."
With the F2000 Championship Series competing at some of North America's most historic venues, the seven weekend, fourteen race series provides for great racing at a cost-effective price.
Indy Motorsports Group is also pleased to confirm that Davis Durrett will return to the squad in 2019. Claiming the fourth position in the 2018 series championship, Durrett added one victory, one pole position and multiple podiums to his resume and will look to challenge for the 2019 title.
Durrett continued, "With an experienced driver already in the team, the second driver will have the opportunity to gain valuable track knowledge, setup data as well as learn from a competitor that has already been part of the program for a handful of years. Whether this new driver is a veteran racer or a newcomer straight from the karting world, I am confident that they can be placed in a championship caliber program and fight for race wins and podium results from the drop of the first green flag."
With the second car already in the team's possession, Indy Motorsports Group is ready to launch their winter testing program. With days planned throughout December and into the New Year, interested drivers are urged to contact IMG to schedule their test.
