Indy Motorsport Group Earns Podium During F2000 Championship Debut
INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (April 30, 2018) – Davis Durrett earned Indy Motorsport Group their first podium in F2000 competition during the opening weekend of the F2000 Championship Series with a third-place finish. Durrett showed strong pace all weekend with a fourth-place in the second and final race of the weekend. Durrett currently sits in third place in the championship standings heading into Watkins Glen.
“I’m really excited about how my first weekend went in the F2000 championship series. Coming away with third and fourth place finished really sets us up for a great championship battle. We showed strong pace all weekend qualifying second and third as well. I’m glad we were able to capitalize and turn those into strong finishes, and I can’t thank IMG enough. We’re looking forward to trying to move up the podium next race at Watkins Glen,” stated Durrett.
The weekend at Road Atlanta featured the full array of racing conditions with a dry first qualifying and race, but that would soon change. Durrett qualified a strong third for race one and was able to keep his position during the race finishing on the podium. Qualifying for the second race was a mixture of wet and dry with most teams going out on rain tires. Durrett held the pole for most of the session but was nipped with a handful of laps to go settling for a second place starting position. The race was run in a heavy downpour and Durrett brought the car home safely in fourth.
The F2000 Championship Series visits Watkins Glen next for rounds 3 and 4 of the 2018 championship on May 11-13.
