In Her Own Words: Caitlin Looks Forward to Mid-Ohio
Hey Everyone!!! It is hard to believe that almost all of the summer has come and gone, and that we are at our last race weekend in the F2000 Championship. What is even more difficult to believe, is that in four short weeks, I will be heading back to school for my final year of University.
Finally, the Mid-Ohio race weekend is here though. I have been waiting for this weekend all year. I visited the track last year for the F2000 race to spectate, and instantly it became a track that I wanted to race on. One thing that I have definitely found over the course of this season, is the extra seat time in the Formula Ford, my other series, has been greatly beneficial. I can't believe how much I have learned about car set-up and mechanics in one short season. The greater understanding of the mechanics as well as the set-up on the car has helped immensely in my ability to adapt to the F2000 cars. Also, the immense support from the Z-Sports team has been a key to the success.
Going into this weekend, I am really looking forward to getting back in the F2000 car after a month and a half hiatus. Coming off of such a high profile weekend as Watkins Glen definitely relieves some pressure. All in all Watkins Glen was a great weekend. I found the track quite interesting and the atmosphere there was very exciting. The racing didn't go as well as I had hoped, but we were definitely able to look back and reflect and take the lessons forward to the next weekend.
It was also pretty cool to meet Danica. She was super nice to me and the entire Z-Sports team. It would be neat to go get dinner with her sometime and just listen.
I have been keeping very busy as usual over the month and a half that I have been out of the F2000 cockpit. Continuing in my Formula Ford car, we have had two race weekends, one near Ottawa, Ontario at Calabogie Motorsports Park, and the other at Mosport. Currently, after the Mosport weekend, I am sitting in 3rd place in the Ontario Formula Ford Challenge Championship Points.
This past race weekend our race at Mosport went very well, with two top-five finishes over the two days. The weather, as usual, was unsettled there with the usual mix of everything over the course of the three days that we were there.
See ya at the track!
