HP-Tech Expands to Three for Mid-Ohio
Ft. Lauderdale, FL – HP-Tech Motorsport, which has a two-car F2000 Championship Series team and runaway points leader Robert La Rocca, with seven wins in eight races, is adding a third car for Mid-Ohio and the rest of the year. La Rocca and teammate Jose Montiel will be joined by another Venezuelan, Cesar Lapoint, in a Van Diemen for the remaining six races.
The Florida-based team has taken delivery of an ex-Alegra chassis last driven by Angel Benitez, and is currently putting the car together for rounds nine and 10 of the 2012 season at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, July 26-29.
Lapoint, 21, has a deep karting history and is coming off a handful of race wins In the Venezuelan F1600 National Championship.
“We want him to learn the remaining 2012 tracks, Mid-Ohio, Summit Point and Watkins Glen,” noted Jorge Herrera, team manager. “We need to get to know each other and prepare for the 2013 season. We are excited to be expanding to three cars. Cesar will fit in well alongside Robert and Josel.”
