January 28, 2009

After a 10 year hiatus from the F2000 Championship Series Group A Racing will be making the return with the winner of the 2008 Bertil Roos F2000 Championship Series Jonathan Scarallo.Group A Racing last competed in the F2000 Pro Series back in 1998 with Jonathan’s older brother Joey Scarallo. Group A Racing has competed in various pro racing classes since 1996, both as a customer, and fielding their own entries.

“We have been looking around at many series for a while to get back into open wheel racing. The F2000 Championship Series is most definitely the best choice. The series has so much history and is by far the most cost effective out of the all the junior pro open wheel series. It was a no brainer for me.” commented team owner Joe Scarallo Sr.In the past two seasons Jonathan has competed in the Bertil Roos F2000 Championship Series.

In his rookie season Scarallo captured four wins, and eight podiums in the 16 race schedule. Winning the rookie title and finishing fourth in the overall championship. In his sophomore season Jonathan won eight races and was on the podium 15 out of the 16 races capturing the championship and becoming the series champion. Jonathan will be supported by GroupAWheels.com, MOMO, Toyo Tires, Bertil Roos Racing School, and Speedware Motorsports.

“I am so excited to be racing in the F2000 Championship Series this year with Group A Racing. It has been a dream of mine to race in the F2000 pro series way back when I was about five years old when my brother was racing in it. I have been waiting a long time to have my opportunity to race in this series.” Said Jonathan Scarallo

“I resisted for numerous years to get into the management/business side of race teams, but now I feel the time is to develop something long term for the future. I personally enjoy working on the mental aspect of racing. The driver best prepared for the mental grind of a series will do better in the long run, than another not able to control his emotions and focus his mental energy for the duration of a complete season.” Said Joe Scarallo Sr.

Group A Racing in based in Long Island New York. All though the team may be new again to F2000 racing it has nothing but experienced personnel. The team has one other driver signed for the season and still has two more seats available. They can service drivers with and with out their own cars also, in both the pro series and SCCA racing.

Group A Racing and Scarallo will commence their off season testing in preparation for the 2009 season, with further announcements regarding their driver line up and sponsors for the F2000 Championship Series.
