Grant Brothers, Polestar, to Contest 2012 Atlantic Championship Series
Sharon, CT – The Grant brothers, David and Keith Grant, are set to challenge for top honors in the 2012 Atlantic Championship Series with veteran team Polestar Racing Group, capitalizing on years of Atlantic success with the Jim Griffith-run outfit.
The duo has entered a pair of Swift 014a chassis with Toyota engines, under the Polestar tent, like they have been for the previous six seasons in SCCA competition. The brothers have run the SCCA Championship Run Offs and are now moving to the inaugural edition of the six-race, three-weekend Atlantic Championship Series.
Keith Grant has raced Atlantic cars since 2006, finished second at the 2010 Run Offs at Road America, and taking the 2003 GT-4 National Championship, along with multiple division championships in Formula Atlantic and GT-4.
David Grant is the 2008 Formula Atlantic National Champion, also having raced in the class since 2006.
The two brothers live next door to one another in Germantown, TN, and are both married with children, running a successful home-building business in Tennessee and Mississippi.
“We are glad to see that Mike Rand is bringing the Atlantic Championship Series back to life,” said Keith Grant. “We hope that our team will have an opportunity to challenge for the Championship. We look forward to the first race at Road Atlanta.”
A six-round, three-event Atlantic Championship Series is planned for 2012. The year will open May 10 – 12 at Road Atlanta with F2000 and Formula Drift, followed by a trip to New Jersey Motorsports Park, June 29 – July 1, with ARCA, TransAm, F2000 and F1600. The season will wrap up at Summit Point, August 24 – 26, with CCS Motorcycles, F2000 and F1600.
