Goughary Nails Pole For Race 2
Braselton, GA – Jim Goughary broke away from the pack on Saturday to finish second, and backed that effort up with a pole run during Sunday morning qualifying for the second and final F1600 race at Road Atlanta this weekend. Goughary’s Ski Motorsports Van Diemen/Honda beat out Garth Rickards by .092 seconds, with Will Harvey, Saturday winner Franklin Futrelle, and Steve Bamford following.
The race is set to mimic Saturday’s 10-car draft battle at Road Atlanta, but perhaps with some new faces at the front as Max Hanratty qualified sixth with Art Foster in seventh. Ayla Agren, Brandon Angel and Esteban Garzon completed the top ten.
