Formula Race Promotions to Trial Two-Day Format at NJMP

July 26, 2016

Salem, NH – Formula Race Promotions will use its August 27-28 weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park’s Thunderbolt circuit to trial a new two-day weekend format ahead of the 2017 season. Teams and drivers in the Atlantic, F2000 and F1600 Championship Series will see a compressed format over Saturday and Sunday.

The trial format is based on competitor feedback asking for less travel time and shorter weekends to cut costs.

“Our paddock has asked us to investigate a shorter weekend format which will help cut travel costs and time on the road,” said Race Director Chip Robinson. “The NJMP weekend was a perfect time to test this out as we plan our 2017 schedule. We want to thank our track partners at NJMP for working with us to pull this off. After the weekend we will send out a survey and then make a decision whether we do this at more events in 2017.”

As well, Friday August 26 will now become an official Series test day. Drivers and teams electing to take some extra laps will have an opportunity to get testing time. Formula Race Promotions has traditionally had Thursday test days at select weekends.
