Formula Race Promotions Staff Announcement
Sharon, CT – Formula Race Promotions today announced a number of staff changes in regards to the 2014 Atlantic, F2000 and F1600 race seasons. Race director Michael Rand is moving to an advisory position, and will be replaced in the race director role by Lynda Randall. Rand will continue to be a part of all three series and will attend all seven weekends in 2014.
After seven years of uncompromising service to F2000 and F1600, Mike Eakin has retired as technical director. Mike Fultz will take his position overseeing F2000 and F1600 technical inspection operations. He will be joined by Steve Oseth.
For the 2014 Atlantic Championship Series, Joe Griffin will return as the chief of tech.
“The previous eight seasons have been challenging and fulfilling in almost equal parts and as this transitional period begins I look forward to maintaining a close connection with these series through mentoring my handpicked and personal choice to take these series into the future, Lynda Randall,” said Series Managing Director Michael Rand. “The continued strong participation in the F2000 Series along with the expected growth of the F1600 Series and the reincarnation in 2014 of the Atlantic Series and the support from a strong competitor base bodes well for the coming seasons.”
Rand continued: “Mike Eakin, technical director since 2007 who really became much like a brother and who has also chosen this time to move on to other priorities in his life, deserves my highest accolades as my right hand man who shared equally in my vision for these series. The staff only does this because of the racers and the paddock is inhabited by the greatest assembly of dedicated, enthusiastic and helpful drivers, crews, engineers, mechanics, truck drivers and helpers I have had the honor of working with. I will miss you all and look forward to Road Atlanta in April as I begin my personal farewell tour. Thank you to all.”
Lynda Randall comes to Formula Race Promotions with a long track record in the motorsports business – having worked for SCCA Pro Racing as operations director for World Challenge, in addition to starting and running the Miller Motorsports Park Ford Racing Mustang Challenge, overseeing operations for Lime Rock Park, and also working for Skip Barber. Currently, Randall works for Turner Motorsport, which she will continue to do in her new role as race director.
Mike Fultz has been involved in sports car racing since before joining the SCCA in 1989. Fultz has raced open wheel race cars, winning the Formula Vee Mid Atlantic Road Racing Series championship in 2006. While racing has been a passion, he is also well known for race car fabrication, construction, and restoration of many open wheel formula cars. Fultz is a nationally-licensed tech Inspector and was awarded technical inspector of the Year in 2004 by the Washington, DC Region SCCA.
Steve Oseth is a long-time SCCA member and competition driver in Formula F and Formula Vee, in addition to past board of director member and competition chairman in the Washington, DC Region SCCA. He is currently on the SCCA Formula and Sports Racing Advisory Committee with Griffin.
Joe Griffin worked as technical inspector to the Atlantic Championship Series in 2012, and returns for the expanded ten-race/five-weekend 2014 season. Griffin brings years of Atlantic car experience to the Series, having been involved with the class going back to the Formula B days, and working for a former version of the Series from 1983 to 2006.
