Formula Race Promotions Opens 2026 Season at Road Atlanta This Weekend

Formula Race Promotions (FRP) will kick off its highly anticipated 2026 season this weekend at Road Atlanta, joining the exciting race weekend alongside the Trans Am Series in Braselton, Georgia. Drivers from across North America will take to the historic 2.54-mile road course to begin the new championship season, competing across three of FRP’s premier open-wheel categories: F1600, F2000, and Atlantic.

The opening round marks the start of another competitive year for Formula Race Promotions, which has built a reputation as one of the leading development platforms for aspiring professional drivers. The three classes provide a ladder of progression for drivers looking to hone their skills in high-performance formula cars while racing at some of the most iconic circuits in the United States.

The F1600 Championship Series continues to serve as a foundational steppingstone for drivers transitioning from karting into open-wheel racing, while the F2000 Championship Series offers increased performance and engineering complexity for drivers advancing up the formula ladder. The Atlantic Championship Series, featuring some of the fastest open-wheel cars competing in North America, represents the pinnacle of FRP competition.

FRP Series Owner Bob Wright expressed excitement as the championship begins a new season.

“We’re very excited to get the 2026 season underway at Road Atlanta,” explained Wright. “It’s a fantastic facility and a great place to start the year, especially alongside the Trans Am Series. Our drivers and teams have been preparing all winter, and we expect strong competition across the F1600, F2000, and Atlantic classes. FRP continues to focus on providing a competitive and professional environment where drivers can develop their skills and gain valuable experience.”

With competitive fields expected across all three classes, the opening round at Road Atlanta sets the stage for another exciting season of Formula Race Promotions competition as drivers begin their pursuit of 2026 championship honors.
