Filgueiras Signs with Spencer Racing for 2015 F2000 Season
Just a month after becoming the youngest competitor to earn a Historic Sportscar Racing Championship and receiving the Peter Gregg Championship Trophy, 21 year young Florida racing driver Eric Filgueiras has signed with newly formed Spencer Racing to compete in the F2000 Championship Series.
The team will field a single car in the series and will feature the team’s primary partner, Lipten Energy Solutions. “The Spencer Racing Team is excited to announce the signing of the very talented Eric Filgueiras for the 2015 F2000 Championship Series. Eric has proven himself as a champion and top contender in several racing series and he will be bringing that experience and expertise to The Spencer Racing - Lipten Company sponsored #22 car.” stated Spencer Racing’s team owner Jim Spencer.
“I’ve been working diligently toward this goal for some time now and I’m ecstatic to begin this new endeavor with Spencer Racing and have the opportunity to get back into open-wheel competition!” explained team driver Filgueiras. “We had a great season in 2014 and I’m looking forward to taking the things we’ve learned and applying them to this new challenge.” The team will contest the seven-weekend racing championship that will host events at prestigious locations such as Road Atlanta, VIR, Mid-Ohio and more.
About Eric: Since the early age of 4 years old Eric has been behind the wheel. First honing his skills in Karting where he won multiple titles before moving into racing cars in SCCA, HSR, FARA and other series, having success in both formula cars and sports car racing.
