F2000/F1600 Safety Advisory – April 2011: Roll Cages for Formula Cars
It has come to our attention that many cars competing in SCCA sanctioned events may not be complying with rules covering Roll Cages for Formula Cars in respect to the driver’s position in relation to the front and rear roll hoops. These rules are spelled out in the current issue of the General Competition Rules and Specifications as published by SCCA Club Racing. (Section 9.4.5 page 110) Some car/driver combinations may not be able to pass one, or both, of the required clearances spelled out in the rules. These minimum clearances spell out the required relationship of the driver’s helmet in respect to the ‘helmet reference line’ and the 2” minimum below the main roll hoop.
We are recommending teams inspect their cars with attention to adherence to these regulations.
Failure to adhere to these rules and specifications may result in refusal of entry to a F2000 Championship Series, and/or F1600 Championship Series event.
