Ben Auriemma Leads at VIR

Salem, NH - The F1600 Formula F Championship Series heads to Mid-Ohio for a tripleheader this weekend after nine exciting races that have come down to the wire with Scott Andrews leading the point standings on five wins, with Steve Bamford and Austin Mack following in the Championship standings.

Andrews has had an impressive season so far and has been able to consistently take to the podium at every stop. The Australian bred driver of the No. 94 Exclusive Autosport car had two first place finishes at VIR to help him maintain his lead for the season. Andrews started the season with three podiums at Road Atlanta, one of which being a first place finish in race two for the weekend. Watkins Glen also proved to be a good weekend for Andrews where he placed first in both races two and three.

Bamford sits in second place overall in the point standings, and is fresh off a daring win to close out the VIR weekend in June.  He has been an unstoppable force in the competitive Masters Class. The No. 07 Mygale/Honda from Rice Race Prep picked up seven first place finishes over the course of three stops and nine races, giving him a solid lead in the point standings for the Masters Class

Behind Bamford in the standings is the No. 44 K-Hill driver, Mack, who has also had a great season with three podium finishes total and a win coming at Watkins Glen. Most recently at VIR Mack was able to pick up a third place finish in race three.

Along with Mack, K-Hill will have the driver of the No. 12 Mygale/Honda, Skylar Robinson at Mid-Ohio; Robinson had a strong performance at VIR with top ten finishes in races one and two and laps in the lead.

Fellow teammate to Andrews, Thomas McGregor will be trying to break into the top three for the overall point standings this weekend as he sits in fourth overall. The driver of the No. 93 car was able to stand on the podium after race one at VIR where he had a third place finish.

Fifth in the point standings is Team Pelfrey driver Andrew Hobbs, who finished third in race two at VIR. He will be joined at Mid-Ohio by teammates Ben Auriemma, Jordan Cane, and Rob Megennis. Last season this weekend marked a turning point for Pelfrey where the team swept the weekend, propelling them to the 2014 Championship.

Art Foster has been behind Bamford in the Masters Class for the entire season with multiple second place finishes in the Masters Class.

Kyle Kirkwood will be returning to the scene at Mid-Ohio after his two week hiatus. Kirkwood will be hoping to regain the form that saw him power to win the season-opening race at Road Atlanta.

F2000 driver David Grant will also being running in the F1600 series this weekend. Grant holds the track record for the F1600 series and also did well at Mid-Ohio during the 2013 season where he had back to back second place finishes for the weekend.

The fourth weekend for the F1600 Formula F Championship Series will run July 3-5 with twilight testing starting Thursday at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.
