Sharon, CT – For the third season of the F1600 Formula F Championship Series, Formula Race Promotions is introducing a Masters Class for drivers that are 40 years old and up. With an influx of young talent expected in 2013, the Masters Class gives veteran drivers their own prize fund, trophies and bragging rights, and is combinable with the Championship prize fund.

Like the F2000 Series, which was over-run by a group of aspiring racers well under the age of 40, the Masters Class will provide its own prize fund – with payouts awarded to top placing drivers in the Masters Class after each race, regardless of their overall placement. Making it even better, however, is that if they are in positions that pay out regardless, those drivers will be taking home two checks.

“With more young drivers coming in, it was time to create a Masters Class for the F1600 Series,” commented Series Managing Director Michael Rand. “It will give the veterans an added incentive.”

At the end of the year, the top three in the Masters Class Championship will be recognized at the Series banquet, with more awards, and are also eligible for placement in the F1600 Championship. Hypothetically, a Masters Class driver could win both the Drivers Championship and Masters Class Championship.

A purse payout structure will be announced on the F1600Series.com website before the start of the season, at VIRgina International Raceway, April 12-14.
