Exclusive Autosport to debut Spectrum 014z Formula 2000 with McGregor

March 20, 2014

March 20, 2014 (Braselton, GA):  Thomas McGregor (22, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Canada), finished the 2013 season on a high note as the Formula Tour 1600 Pro Series Champion.  McGregor finished the season with five consecutive wins, five poles, 10 podiums and one track record in his #93 Exclusive Autosport  / Dairy Queen / Sparco / Spectrum 014 Formula 1600 with Honda HPD power.  He is carrying that success and confidence with him into the 2014 season where he will compete full time in the 14-round F2000 Championship series which kicks off at Road Atlanta in April.  McGregor will debut the #93 Exclusive Autosport Spectrum 014z F2000 chassis this weekend at the SCCA March Majors Tour event at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia.

At 22, McGregor has an extensive racing resume which includes an F1600 Championship (2013 Formula Tour Pro Champion), a Skip Barber Formula Southern Series Championship (2011), a Skip Barber Formula 2000 Western Series Vice Championship (2011), a Skip Barber  MAZDASPEED MX-5 Vice Championship (2011) and multiple national and regional karting championships in Canada. He also completed a full season of the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Series presented by Mazda, where he raced for Andretti Autosport. His previous racing experience, will without a doubt assist him in his quest for a championship this season with Exclusive Autosport.

Back on board for the 2014 season are McGregor’s long time sponsors Dairy Queen, Exclusive Management Inc. and Spectrum Race Cars.

The March Majors event at Road Atlanta will be the competition debut for the new-to-market Spectrum 014z Formula 2000 chassis for Exclusive Autosport, the North American Spectrum factory team. It is the perfect opportunity to not only shake down the car but also for McGregor to get some valuable seat time before the start of the F2000 Championship in April.  The car follows the Spectrum design philosophy of safety first with a focus on performance through sound, uncomplicated design while retaining the marques now famous elegant looks.

“I am so incredibly thrilled and honoured to have re-signed with Exclusive Autosport and to be chosen as the driver to debut the new 2014 Spectrum 014Z F2000 car in North America for Exclusive Autosport (EA). EA is an incredibly professional operation and to return this year with the team and have the opportunity to work with EA engineer Remi Lanteigne again is awesome.  The Spectrum 014 F1600 was incredible to race last year and I think the 014Z F2000 will be just as incredible. I have to thank Exclusive Management Inc, Exclusive Autosport, Spectrum, Dairy Queen, Sparco, and my family for helping put this together for me,” said McGregor

Michael Duncalfe, President and CEO of Exclusive Management Inc. and team owner of Exclusive Autosport has worked with McGregor throughout his open wheel career.

“I have been working with Thomas as his manager and coach for 6 years now.  He continues to grow as a driver and improve on his already successful resume. Last year Thomas had an incredible year with us (Exclusive Autosport) in F1600 and I am very happy that he will be back with us this year leading our Spectrum F2000 program.  We have a lot of work ahead of us as the F2000 series is highly competitive, but the entire EA crew and Thomas are up for the challenge.  I have no doubt that the Spectrum 014Z designed and built by Michael Borland, founder of Borland Racing Developments in Australia, will be quick out of the box.”

Additional driver announcements for Exclusive Autosport will be made in the following weeks.
