Eastern Pro 4 Challenge Class Added to Formula Race Promotions in 2021

December 7, 2020

“Ligier JSF4 cars to compete in FRP’s Eastern Pro 4 Challenge”

Surveying the landscape of the North American motorsports community and looking to fill a potential void, Formula Race Promotions (FRP) has added to their class lineup for 2021. Dubbed the Eastern Pro 4 Challenge, the added class will use the current Ligier JSF4 chassis and FRP’s adapted SCCA Pro Racing rulebook with a few minor amendments to keep the cost of racing and the dollar per lap at a minimum.

“We are very excited to introduce the Eastern Pro 4 Challenge at six events in 2021, including the SCCA Runoffs at Indianapolis,” explained Series Co-Owner Robert Wright. “While we welcome the Ligier chassis to join any of our events, we will have a specific six round Challenge with prize money, contingency tires and points being tabulated to determine the Challenge Winner. We are excited at the opportunity that this brings FRP and look forward to building upon it in the future.”

Arguably the most affordable series across the United States with the dollar per green flag lap at a minimum, the most exciting part of the class addition will also be the final round of FRP’s Pro 4 Challenge taking place at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the SCCA Runoffs.

Wright added, “Who doesn’t want to race at the most famous racetrack in the world? The Challenge will compete in the FX Class and score points towards their end of the year total, and also give drivers the opportunity to earn a SCCA National Championship in the FX class. Additionally, FRP’s Pro 4 Challenge will compete at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Pittsburgh International Race Complex, Barber Motorsports Park, Road America, Autobhan Country Club and Indianapolis Motor Speedway.”

The six event, eleven race series is being introduced as one of the most affordable prices in motorsports. With a complete season registration package of only $7,800, which includes registration for all six events, SCCA Pro Licensing fee, unlimited crew credentials as well as access to driver coaching, Challenge competitors will compete at some of the most prestigious tracks in North America. Utilizing Hoosier Race Tires, a six-tire limit per weekend will be enforced to keep costs down while a carry-over set will be available for practice from the previous event. Finally, FRP’s Pro 4 Challenge will open entries for drivers fourteen years of age and older to help train and prepare them for future endeavors.

Wright continued, “We are the perfect training ground for the youth of the sport and can provide them competition that will not break the bank. After a season or two with us, drivers will be ready with more experience to progress to national classes of racing, as proven by numerous of our successful alumni. If the driver is fourteen years of age, they can compete with us and we welcome them to the FRP family.”
