Dixon First at Summit Point

August 28, 2017

Summit Point, WV - Brandon Dixon won Sunday's F2000 Championship Series race at Summit Point, inheriting the lead on lap 10 as Tim Minor retired after dominating the early stages of the race from pole. Dixon took his third win of the 2017 season, adding to his Championship lead, with only two races remaining on the schedule.  Tim Paul and Steve Jenks completed the podium behind Dixon, in round 12 of the 2017 season.

Quotes from the Top Finishers:

Brandon Dixon:

"The weekend ended much better than yesterday. That was just not my day but we got everything to line up today. The start was pretty exciting. Steve and I spent a fair bit of that lap side-by-side. We turned into turn three together. I kept Tim (Minor) in my sights but I didn't have any pace for him. I don't know what happened to him but after that it was about hitting all my marks and trying to keep the pace up."

Tim Paul:

"I'm happy and frustrated. We are so close, we are right there. I was really surprised to see Tim Minor drop out. But I'll tell you what, that first lap footage from my camera is going to be epic on YouTube. It was an incredible first lap. Brandon was able to hold the gap and we were even. I knew Steve was right behind me, I was keeping an eye on him. We're happy with second. We have one more race to go, we'll get there.

Steve Jenks:

"We sure had a low point in qualifying losing the engine. I'm thankful to ADSA/Wright for loaning me the No. 95. Lenny Tumenas and Tumenas Motorsports got the car dialed in."

Next up, Formula Race Promotions heads for its season finale at New Jersey Motorsports Park, October 6-8, 2017. F1600 will see a traditional tripleheader weekend to decide its Championship, with title battles going over double races on offer for F2000 and Atlantic.
