Earlier this year, Team Pelfrey and Trinity Karting Group announced their partnership to help talented young go-kart drivers graduate to formula cars via the F1600 Championship Series. From there, the ultimately goal is for drivers to make their way up the #PelfreyPower ladder all the way to the Verizon IndyCar Series.David Osborne of Cincinnati, Ohio is the first TKG driver to successfully make the transition to F1600 with Team Pelfrey.

“I can’t even express how happy I am for David and the opportunities ahead of him with Team Pelfrey”, said Shawn Bayliff, TKG President. “He has gained great driving skill through our karting program and his selfless ability to work in a team atmosphere will maximize his potential in this next step of his racing career. We are excited the relationship with Team Pelfrey has grown over the winter and is already seeing our first graduate moving up the ranks. We hope to see David achieve his goals in their ladder system and we look forward to providing Team Pelfrey a steady stream of talent, trained with the professionalism and dedication to perform at the top levels of motorsports.”

Osborne started his karting career at the Motorsports Country Club of Cincinnati in 2007. After several seasons of karting, the Miami University student, pursuing a degree in Bio-medical Engineering, attended the Skip Barber Racing School for formal training. As Osborne developed a strong passion for racing, he focused on accruing several pole positions, fastest laps and victories with TKG over a two-year period.

“I am ecstatic for the opportunity to drive the No. 82 Team Pelfrey F1600 entry this weekend at VIRginia International Raceway,” stated the 21-year-old Osborne. “This is something I’ve been dreaming of for a very long time and I’m relieved the hard work and training for this moment are finally coming to fruition. Racing for a team like Team Pelfrey is an enormous honor and I can’t wait to do my best this weekend for them.”

This past weekend, Team Pelfrey traveled to Barber Motorsports Park to compete in rounds three and four of the MRTI championship where USF2000 rookie Kaylen Frederick clinched two second place finishes.Frederick successfully graduated from Team Pelfrey’s F1600 team in 2016 as he now begins to make his mark on the Mazda Road to Indy. Robert Megennis, another Team Pelfrey F1600 graduate secured his first podium win at the MRTI season opener hosted on the streets of St. Petersburg, Fla.

“It’s obvious the MRTI ladder system works as we see young drivers like Spencer [Pigot], Conor [Daly] andJosef [Newgarden] who are graduates of the programmake a name for themselves in the highest form of open-wheel racing in the States,” commented team manager, Geoff Bushor. “I have no doubt in a few years’ time Kaylen and Robertwill be the drivers to beat in the Verizon IndyCar Series.”
