Crone Released from Hospital After Pittsburgh Incident

August 7, 2018

Pittsburgh, PA – Team Pelfrey driver Courtney Crone has been released from the hospital in good spirits and is already looking to get back behind the wheel following an early race incident in round 15 of the 2018 F1600 Championship Series season on Sunday, August 5.

“It was a pleasure racing with Team Pelfrey this weekend in the F1600 Championship Series at the Pittsburgh International Raceway Complex,” said Crone. “Though the weekend did not end the way we would have liked, overall it was an enjoyable experience working with the team. Many thanks to Geoff, Jay, Skip, Matthew, Dylan, and Joey for all of the help and support this past weekend. I hope to do it again soon! I could not do this without the support of my partners Trench Shoring, The Morgan Group, Myofunctional Research, Women’s Sports Foundation/Project Podium, Cement Cutting Inc, Sammy Tanner Distributing/ Arai Helmets, Stand 21, Troy Lee Designs, Team Swolen, and Racing Optics.”

“She is already enthused about getting back into the car,” said Geoff Bushor, team principal. “The safety team at Pittsburgh International Race Complex did an outstanding job. I think Courtney was most upset that they had to cut her driving suit during the extrication process.”

Crone was airlifted to a nearby hospital in Pittsburgh as a precaution, and after an overnight stay, was released on Monday. Crone and her family are on their way home to California.

The young driver was making her debut F1600 appearance and had been picking up speed throughout the weekend, following just days after being named as one of the Team USA Scholarship nominees.
