Chris Miller : Preparing for VIR

April 1, 2009

Since my last blog a lot has happened. I have had the opportunity to get back in the car via a test with JDC Motorsports at Mid America Motorplex and have also visited the shop to finish up some last minute things before the season. Also, it has been confirmed that Alejandro Munoz will drive a second JDC car and I look forward to working with him throughout the season.

The test at Mid America Motorplex went very well. We bettered the times that we were able to achieve when we tested there during the middle of the season last year, which is particularly promising considering the weather. It was extremely cold in the morning, limiting what we could accomplish but fortunately it warmed up later in the day allowing us to get some good runs in and record some good data. It felt great to be back in the car and after such a long off-season I was pleased with how quickly I was able to get back up to speed. The entire JDC motorsports team did a great job getting the cars ready and as a result the test went without any mechanical problems. The developments made over the offseason seem like a step in the right direction and I look forward to trying them again at VIR. This was also the first time that I met my new teammate for 2009, Alejandro Munoz, and I think that we should both be able to achieve some great results this season.

I also visited the JDC motorsports shop to finalize everything before the season and get a new seat made. While there I had the opportunity to see the six Pro Mazda cars that they work on and congratulate them on their victory at the opening round at Sebring. Everything looked great and I think everyone is optimistic heading into the new season.

Until the first race I’ll continue to work on my fitness and make sure everything is ready for VIR. I am looking forward to what appears to be another extremely competitive season and know that it will be important to start the year with some strong results. VIR is a track that I enjoy and feel suits my driving style well, so I am excited that the first round of the F2000 Championship Series will take place there. Thank you to Miller Milling Company and JDC Motorsports for making our campaign in 2009 possible.
