Alton, VA – A last second deal has put 2008 Formula Ford National Champion Chris Keller in a Van Diemen for Sunday’s F2000 race at VIR. The 22-year old from New Jersey will pilot the #83 entry usually driven by Masters Class competitor Charles Finelli, who has given the opportunity to the young hopeful. Keller is most remembered for his daring last lap pass in the final corner to win the Run-Offs at Topeka in a Swift DB-6.

“Everything about this weekend has been kind of last minute,” said Keller. “To drive on Sunday last minute is going to interesting. It’s going to be my first session ever in that race car, and it’s going to be qualifying, and it’s my first time at VIR in three years. “

The entry is supported by Amato Construction, Finelli’s race team – Fat Boy Racing and Williams Racing Developments.

The addition of Keller to the F2000 grid underlines the fact the Series has become a super-competitive playing field stacked with talent.

Besides winning the Run-Offs in dramatic fashion, Keller estimates he has 10 Grand National titles in karts. Last year he won the Road Racing Grand National 125cc karting event at Mid-Ohio. He also contested the Formula Ford 40th Anniversary weekend at Elkhart Lake. Additionally, he made it to the semi-finals of the Red Bull driver search.

“I’m up for it.  I’m grateful for Charles (Finelli) giving me the opportunity to jump into his car,” Keller continued. “I’m really impressed with the F2000 Series, that’s why I came down to VIR. I want to become part of the Series. I’m excited to start in any part of the 30 car field that’s here. I’ll be starting a few points down with missing the first round at VIR, but I’m confident I can make them up.”

Sunday gets underway with a qualifying session at 12:15pm, followed by a 3:30 14-lap or 30-minute race. Fans and competitors can follow live updates, news and photos on www.F2000ChampionshipSeries.com or on Twitter @F2000.
