Chris Ash Getting into the Atlantic Championship Series

 Ash originally got into motorsports because it “looked fun,” and after that he ended up really enjoying himself. 

“Racing started about twelve or thirteen years ago with SCCA Club Racing in Corvettes in T1 and the Spec Miata for several years. About five years ago I switched to F1000 and went to the Runoffs almost every year and finished fourth at Road America,” said Ash “I then switched to P1 class last year and finished fourth again at the Runoffs at Laguna Seca,” he continued about his previous racing exploits. 

The first time in a new car is going to prove to be interesting for any driver, and that was the case for Ash in Road Atlanta where Ash was driving a brand new Atlantic car, the first of which in quite some time, that Comprent built for him. 

“Road Atlanta went decent I guess it was my first Atlantic race ever and really the first time in an Atlantic car for me, so considering that and the steep learning curve with these cars I thought it went well,” explained Ash. 

Off the track Ash enjoys what any man would: spending time with his family as well as his pets; and he also enjoys reading. 

With Watkins Glen but a few short weeks a way, Ash is eager to continue learning about the Atlantic cars, and improve as a driver. 

“I plan to learn more of the ins and outs of the Atlantic cars and have a good race.” 

His final words on the Atlantic Championship Series were positive, as he explained how he likes the events as well as the atmosphere that the series creates for teams and drivers. 

“I’m finding the Atlantic Championship Series to be a really well run series and I enjoy the atmosphere of the events, it seems like a great place to work on improving my driving, as we get lots of track time.”

Chris Ash will be back on the track May 15-17 at Watkins Glen as the series goes into its second weekend, rounds three and four.
